In the US, the girl was not allowed on the water slide because of the prosthesis

In the US, a little girl named Averi from Oklahoma with a leg amputated in infancy was forbidden to ride a water slide.

The local water park said that the prosthesis that the child wears may scratch the slides. Parents of the girls were outraged by such discrimination.

Despite the fact that Avery puts a special protective stocking on her prosthesis, literally at the very slide, a water park employee refused to allow her to go down. According to her parents, the girl began to cry, and they were shocked and upset. “I was angry,” explains mother Kim Mitchell. “My baby is crying. She thought she had done something wrong."

Avery's father said the water park discriminated against them because other people wearing jewelry or bracelets, for example, were not subject to restrictions. “We've been to many places and we've never been treated like we are here,” he fumes.

The management of the Wild West Water Works water park explained the situation: “Unfortunately, we cannot afford to break the rules: swimsuits with exposed metal parts, bracelets, and prosthetics are prohibited on the slides.”

Note, however, that such rules were not mentioned at the entrance to the park or on the stands inside it. This was noticed by the parents of the upset Avery. The water park said they would correct this mistake, and provided compensation to the family.

There is a special organization in the world. Cyborg Foundation, which deals with the problems of so-called cyborgs - people with prostheses and implants who need protection and support. Many of these people find themselves in various unpleasant situations, for example, they are not allowed through metal detectors.
