The head of the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Churov, reported on an attempt to hack the CEC website from the United States on the eve of the single voting day, September 13.
“Yesterday, someone in 23: 23 MSK tried to hack our site and replace the content of its data with the intensity of 50 thousands of requests per minute. It was not possible to make it, the malefactor is calculated - the certain company located in San Francisco », - Churov declared to journalists.
The head of the CEC added that perhaps the Central Election Commission "will appeal to the American cybersecurity law" and to the US authorities.
According to Churov, the state automated system "Elections" withstood the attack from the United States and worked normally. “There are no data entry failures yet,” he assured journalists.
September 13 across Russia passed a single voting day. Governors were elected in the 21 region, elections to the regional parliament were held in 11 Russian entities. 23 was also chosen for representative bodies of municipalities (capitals of the subjects of Russia). The official results will appear in the morning of September 14, while we are collecting preliminary election results.
