The American government is imposing its ideas through an online cinema, says Russia's culture minister.

The head of the Russian Ministry of Culture, Vladimir Medinsky, believes that with the help of the Netflix service, the American authorities are trying to “get into the head of every inhabitant of the Earth.”

“It turns out that in our conditions, our ideological friends (the American government - ed.) understand perfectly well that there is the most important of the arts - how to enter every home with the help of Netflix, get into every TV, and through this TV - into the head of every inhabitant of the Earth . But we don’t understand this,” the minister said.

Medinsky noted that the US government is helping the development of Netflix, including money and guarantees.

“And how the American government supports Netflix - just for fun, go online and look. The White House understands that there is the most important of the arts... What did you think - all these giant startups arise on their own? One student boy sat there, came up with an idea, and billions of dollars rained down from above?!” the minister explained.

Earlier, Medinsky said that Russia would not ban Ukrainian films in response to Kyiv’s decision to ban the screening of Russian films in Ukraine. According to him, “everything is fine with their heads,” but in Ukraine they ban cinema “out of idleness.”

Netflix is ​​the largest online movie theater in the world. The service has 75 million subscribers. The Netflix library contains more than 13 thousand pieces of content.

In 2015, Netflix earned $6,7 billion, and its capitalization increased by 60% over the year, to $42 billion.
