In Russia, the company was fined for advertising with Obama
The Elves company from Samara was fined by the regional department of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) of Russia for advertising water heaters with the image of US President Barack Obama.
According to the press service of the Samara Department of the Federal Antimonopoly Service, the company “Elves” was found guilty of violating the law “On Advertising” and fined 110 thousand rubles (1700 dollars).
An administrative case against the Elves company was initiated due to posters placed on the streets of Samara advertising water heating equipment. A photograph of US President Barack Obama was posted on the billboards, accompanied by the inscription “And shame and shame on unwashed chimney sweeps!”.
The Law on Advertising does not allow the use of obscene and offensive images, comparisons and expressions, including with regard to gender, race and nationality. According to experts, the advertising company "Elves" contains signs of violation of this part of the law.
