Thousands of spectators gathered at Rockefeller Center on Wednesday, 28 November, to watch the annual lighting of the lights on the most famous Christmas tree in the world.
Mayor Bill de Blasio "lit" Norwegian fir. The symbol of Christmas this year was brought from Walkkill (New York State), the tree weighs about 12 tons, the tree height is 72 feet (almost 22 meters), width is 45 feet (almost 14 m). It is decorated with 50 000 multi-colored lights and a Swarovski star. The tree arrived at Rockefeller Plaza from Penn State College 2 a week ago.

Christmas illumination will be included every day from 17: 30 to 23: 30 until 7 in January, except for Christmas, when it will be lit for 24 hours.
