Debut screening of the film “Russian Jews. The first film. Before the Revolution” will take place on April 8 in Moscow. And from April 14, the rental, starting in Russia from Moscow, St. Petersburg and Yekaterinburg, is planned to continue in Israel, North America, England, Germany and other countries.

The “Russian Jews” trilogy will be the first project of the famous journalist and TV presenter Leonid Parfenov, which will be shown on big screens in Russia and other countries.

The first film in the trilogy by author and presenter Leonid Parfenov and director Sergei Nurmamed about the role of Russian Jews in the life of the country and the world covers events before the revolution, the second - the thirty years from 1918 to 1948, the time of Soviet Judophilia; the third is the period after 1948, the beginning of official Judeophobia.

In the first film of the trilogy, the author accompanies the viewer from the capital of Kievan Rus, where already in the XI century there was a Jewish quarter, before the revolutionary Petrograd 1917 of the year.

Under Catherine II, Russia became the country with the largest Jewish population, and since the 19th century, “strangers to everyone and considering everyone to be strangers,” Jews have been actively overcoming isolation.

The film tells about the traditional Jewish way of life and how the future famous financiers and industrialists, scientists, artists, revolutionaries broke with it.

About how the Russian word “pogrom” entered foreign languages, about the “Beilis case,” about the first wave of emigration. About the Socialist Revolutionaries and Bolsheviks, who undermined the tsarist system, about Lenin’s closest associates, who shaped the history of the country in October 1917.

The next two films of the trilogy will tell about the further fate and self-identification of “Russian Jews” in Russia and abroad.
