In New York, 6 immigrants were arrested for 225 days, including Ukrainians, Russians and Israelis

ICE immigration agents conducted a 6-day operation in New York, Long Island and the Hudson Valley to arrest immigrants who violated US immigration laws by arresting 225 people.

Of those arrested, more than 180 people were convicted or prosecuted, more than 80 people had a final deportation order and returned illegally to the United States. Some of them had preliminary convictions for serious or violent crimes, or were convicted of significant or multiple offenses.

Among those arrested were citizens of Israel, Russia, Tajikistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan. More information was not provided.

ICE officers are known to have arrested throughout New York, in the Hudson Valley and Long Island, particularly in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, Staten Island, Suffolk County, Nassau, Westchester, Orange County, Datches and Rockland.

“ICE continues to face significant obstacles related to policies created by local officials that impede cooperation between ICE and local law enforcement. But thanks to the efforts of ICE workers, the operation was a great success, said Thomas Decker, field director. “The fact is that a so-called sanctuary city not only provides refuge for those who are here in violation of immigration laws, but also provides protection for criminal immigrants.”

Some individuals arrested during this operation will face federal prosecution for illegal entry and illegal return after deportation. Those arrested who are not on the federal wanted list will be deported from the United States.

Recall that earlier the US Supreme Court объявилthat the part of the federal law that facilitates the deportation of immigrants convicted of crimes is too vague to comply with.
