For the first time, Russian Film Week will be held in New York

From 8 to 14 December, Russian Film Week will be held for the first time in New York. As part of this film festival, viewers will be offered to view Russian-made 15 films, most of which are premieres for the United States.

Kinonedelyue represent the American Art Festival "Cherry Orchard" (organized by Maria Shklover and Irina Shabshis) and the Russian creative and production association "Rock" Alexei Uchitel. The organizers want to please not only Russian-speaking residents of the United States, but also American connoisseurs of Russian cinema, so the films will be shown in Russian with English subtitles. In addition to the shows, guests will also meet with the creators and actors of some of the pictures of the festival with the opportunity to ask them questions.

The event will have something to do for all family members, regardless of age. For example, 8 December young viewers will be offered a festive show "Fixiki. Big secret "with the ability to chat with fixes, get presents, participate in games and watch a cartoon.

A documentary tape by journalist Susanna Alperina, “IntoNatsii Bolshaya Odesa”, will be shown for adult visitors on the same day; the author of the film will personally present the film at the festival. The shooting took place in Odessa itself, as well as in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Haifa, Vienna, Berlin, Paris and other cities where the glorious children of this great city live, who left for various reasons. The tape received the prize "Key discoveries" in the category “Best Documentary” at the Fourth Jewish Film Festival in Moscow, held in May 2018.

In addition, on Saturday, the guests will be presented with a feature film about the writer Lev Tolstoy “The Story of a Single Destination”, and will be presented by director and screenwriter Avdotya Smirnova.

December 9 guests will see a picture by Karen Shakhnazarov “Anna Karenina. The History of Vronsky. After the show, viewers will have the opportunity to reflect on the literature and language of the cinema, on speculation and elevating deception of fiction, on why the past hurts and how it reflects the future. They will be helped by the creator of the film.

Also on Sunday, the festival will feature the comedy “I'm Losing Weight” directed by Alexei Nuzhny. Pastry girl Anna Kulikova (Alexandra Bortich) lost control of her appetite, put on round sides and tummy and stupidly lost her beloved Zhenya (Roman Kurtsyn), who had a different aesthetic ideal, far from Rubens. The main character lacks character - both according to the script and on the set: the girl seems to be just growing into herself, she needs consolation, indispensable and endless sympathy, but in the end she succeeds, although for this she has to go through many funny situations. spectators' moments, many of which were embellished with his performance by the legendary Shnur (Sergei Shnurov), who played Anya's dad.

One of the most vivid pictures of the festival will be the drama of director Alexander Hunt “Like Vitka Garlic drove Lech Shtyr to the Disabled House”. This is a story about the life of an 27-year-old orphanage who decides to run away from a hateful family, a spouse and a son, and start a free new life. He finds his father, who once threw him in an orphanage, and decides to avenge his ordeal.

Director Alexey Uchitel will present his drama “The Walk” at the event. Her story is very simple: a carefree walk through St. Petersburg of smiling girl Olga with two random companions, but the picture captures almost from the first frame.

Guests of the festival will also meet with directors Olga Zueva and Suzanna Alperina, see actor Danilo Kozlovsky, each of whom will present his picture at the event.

In addition, the film festival program includes the animated family film “Hoffmaniada”, created with the participation of artist Mikhail Shemyakin, the film “Unforgiven”, which will be presented by the leading actor Dmitry Nagiyev, and the world premiere of the comedy “Yolki. The Last”, in which he also starred.

American viewers will be able to see the military drama Sobibor nominated for the Oscar, which will be presented by the director and actor Konstantin Khabensky.
