The first beauty salon for Muslim women opens in New York
Muslim women are not allowed to go to regular beauty salons, as they are forbidden to show hair with men who are not members of their family.
So 37-year-old Huda Kushi decided to open a women-only salon called Le'Jemalik Salon ("For your beauty" in Arabic) on Fifth Avenue in New York, writes New York Post.
“I always had difficulty if I just wanted to go and get a new hairstyle. For a long time I was looking for a beauty salon where men would not come,” Kushi said.
According to her, Muslim girls who go to ordinary beauty salons need to pass a difficult test.
“Once I was in such a salon, I had just washed my hair when a man appeared at the door. I had to put on a hijab over my wet hair and run into another room. After this incident, I told myself: “That’s it, I’ve had enough!” the girl said.
In the event that men accidentally drop in there, in the hall and at the reception everything is arranged so that the main hall with the girls is not visible.
The services of the new beauty salon include manicure, pedicure, epilation, haircuts, styling, hairstyles, cosmetology and henna drawings on the body.
Although the salon is designed for Muslim women, women with all nationalities and religions will be happy to welcome in it.
The opening of the establishment is scheduled for January 29.
