Angela Merkel and Francois Hollande met with Vladimir Putin in Moscow
In the Russian capital on the evening of February 7, negotiations were held between Russian President Vladimir Putin and the leaders of Germany and France - Chancellor Angela Merkel and President Francois Hollande. The heads of European states arrived in Moscow from Kiev to agree with Vladimir Putin on a peace plan in Ukraine, which has not been disclosed yet. The meeting in the Kremlin lasted more than 5 hours, it was held behind closed doors and was interrupted for an official photo session and dinner.
At the end of the meeting, Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov told reporters: “At present, joint work is underway to prepare the text of a possible joint document on the implementation of the Minsk agreements. The document, which would include the proposals of the President of Ukraine and the proposals formulated today and added by the President of the Russian Federation Putin. ”
According to him, “further work will be continued, and its preliminary results will be summed up next Sunday during a telephone conversation, which will be held in the Norman format at the highest level.”
Peskov described the meeting "as meaningful and constructive."
None of the participants of the meeting did not comment on its results after the end of the conversation. Angela Merkel and Francois Hollande left Moscow. According to preliminary information, 7 February in Munich should be a meeting of Angela Merkel with US Vice President Joe Biden in the framework of the Conference on International Security.
Meanwhile, earlier Friday, US Assistant to the President for National Security Susan Rice, speaking at the Brookings Institute in Washington, said that the leaders of Germany and France went to Moscow "not to conclude a unilateral deal at the expense of Ukraine." In addition, according to Susan Rice, the United States is in constant contact with European allies about the line of conduct regarding events in Ukraine.
