Activists supporting the movement Black Lives Matter's anti-black police killings temporarily blocked traffic in downtown St. Louis, Louisiana, on July 16.

Several organizations to fight for the rights of African Americans organized a protest near the Old Courthouse, writes STL Today.

The Old Courthouse is a powerful symbol for activists as it is the site where slave Dred Scott fought for his freedom.

Around 200, the protesters began to rally around 14: 00.

Protesters marched through the central part of the city, as a result of which they blocked the highway for 15 minutes.

“People need to stop killing us. I have a 9-year-old son that I have to take care of,” said Hamilton member Aisha. “My white colleagues at work don’t feel the way I feel when they leave the house in the morning.”

Activists held banners with inscriptions and shouted slogans: “White people, let's talk about racism,” “Black lives matter.”

The protesters also honored the memory of African-Americans killed by policemen with a minute of silence. At this time, the drivers waited patiently for the action participants to unblock the movement.

After that, the participants of the action again returned to the city center.

Recall that as a result of the shooting in Baton Rouge (Louisiana) three policemen were killed, three more were injured. The attacker was eliminated in a shootout. The gunman was identified as 29-year-old black Missouri resident Gavin Long.
