Craven was 76 years old and had suffered from brain cancer in recent years. He is called a classic of the genre: he directed such legendary films as “A Nightmare on Elm Street” and “Scream”. For the film “The Hills Have Eyes” he received a prize at the Sitges Film Festival, and in 1997 for the film “The Scream” he was awarded a prize at the Gérardmer Film Festival. Craven was also an actor, screenwriter and producer. As an actor, he can be seen in four parts of Scream, the films Fear, and Paris, I Love You.
Success came to Wes Craven in 1984, when the low-budget horror film A Nightmare on Elm Street was released, which quickly gained enormous popularity in many countries.
In the wake of the success of the film, several sequels were filmed, as well as a television series.
Education helped his successful career: Craven studied to become a psychologist, became a bachelor, and later a master. He has about 30 paintings in total.
