A modest gay parade was held in Latvia

On Saturday, June 20, a modest and quiet gay parade was held in Riga, the capital of Latvia. Basically, it was attended by young people, but there were also older people.

Unlike gay parades in other major European cities, such an event in Riga was very modest. The main difference is that the participants were dressed in regular clothes. Many around their necks were tied with rainbow scarves, which have long been a symbol of the LGBT movement.

A large group of activists carried a huge rainbow flag through the streets. Also, many carried Russian and Latvian flags.

The procession was watched by the townspeople and guests of Riga, who stood behind a special temporary metal fence. There were few people willing to watch the gay parade.
