In California, fallen 350-year-old oak wrecked 7 cars
In the state of California, in the city of Pleasant Hill, the homeowner had to deal with an 350-year-old oak tree whose branch fell on its street, damaging 7 cars, writes ABC7.
Audra Cudd said that she heard the crackle of the tree, and then fall. She says she immediately realized what had happened.
“My husband and I immediately jumped up, it looks like it’s a tree, it’s a tree! It looked unreal when we opened the door,” says Cudd.
The giant branch of the 350-year-old oak fell off, damaging the 7 of parked cars, but fortunately no one was hurt.
The fallen tree was a landmark in Pleasant Hill. He had a memorial plaque on which it was written that the tree was named Emma. Homeowners say they were told that they cannot cut the crown of a tree or cut it down without the permission of the authorities, since the tree was under protection.
Cadd says that she repeatedly filed a request for trimming a tree, but was refused.
But now she and her husband are left on their own.
Pleasant Hill’s maintenance manager, Mike Nielsen, says that the tree is owned by homeowners and they must pay damages.
He noted that homeowners will be allowed to cut down a tree due to an emergency, but they will have to pay for it from their own pocket.
