In Germany, established a monument to the victims of the Holocaust near the house of the far right politician

In Germany, activists of the art center “Center for Political Beauty” installed a replica of the Holocaust Memorial near the home of one of the leaders of the far-right party Alternative for Germany, Bjorn Hecke. About it сообщает The Guardian.

Earlier, Hecke called on the Germans not to focus on the guilt of the Nazis. About the memorial to the victims of the Holocaust, the politician noted that the Germans were the only nation that had erected a monument to their disgrace in the center of the capital.

The memorial near the Hekke house consists of 24 concrete slabs. The leader of the art group, Philippe Ruch, said that they had begun to prepare for the action in advance, and for 10 months they rented land next to the politician’s house.

The activist expressed the hope that Hecke would like his new view from the window and he would understand that the country needs to remember its past so that it does not happen again.

The art group promised that it would remove the monument if the politician remembers the gesture by West German Chancellor Willy Brandt towards the monument to the victims of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising when he fell to his knees in front of him. Activists suggest Hecke do the same, but in front of the Holocaust Memorial.

The original memorial to the victims of the Holocaust, which is a huge field of more than 2,7 thousands of gray slabs, is located in Berlin.
