In Germany, 88-year-old woman was sentenced to jail for denying the Holocaust

A court in Berlin sentenced 88-year-old Ursula Haverbeck to six months in prison for denying the Holocaust.

The verdict was made in connection with her performance at an event in Berlin 30 on January 2016 of the year, during which she once again denied the fact of the genocide of Jews during the Nazi rule in Germany, writes DW.

Despite previous convictions, the sentence in Haverbeek prison has not yet been served. Earlier, the courts of first instance convicted Khaverbek of letters for the letters she sent to the mayor of Detmold and in the editorial offices of some media. In these documents, she denied the genocide of the Jews. At the trial in the courts of first instance, the woman “uncovered the lies about Auschwitz”, stating that it was not an extermination camp, but an ordinary labor camp. Then the court sentenced her to two years in prison, an appeal in this case is scheduled for November 23.

Khawerbeck has a long history of Holocaust denial, and even gained fame for it. German media dubbed her "Nazi grandmother." Once on television, she stated that the Holocaust is "the largest and most stable lie in the history of mankind."

Haverbeck and her late husband, Werner Georg Haverbeck, who was an active member of NSDAP during World War II, founded the Right-Wing Education Center. Collegium humanumwhich was banned from 2008 year for promoting Nazi ideas and denial of the Holocaust.

Hawkerbeck also wrote articles for the right magazine Stimme des Reiches ("Voice of the Empire"), which denied the existence of the Holocaust.

22 March 2007, the UN General Assembly adopted resolution 61 / 255, in which it calls on all countries to unconditionally reject and punish any denial of the Holocaust.
