In Belarus, imposed fines for parasites

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko today signed a decree “On the Prevention of Social Dependency,” which obliges citizens who do not officially work anywhere and do not pay taxes to the state to pay a tax. The fee is 20 basic units. From January 1, 2015, one basic value is 180 thousand Belarusian rubles. Thus, the fine will be 3 million 600 thousand Belarusian rubles (245 US dollars).

Citizens who are engaged in 183 calendar days or more per year in labor and other types of activities prescribed by the decree (business, craft, creative, legal or notarial, providing services in the field of agricultural ecotourism, working under civil law contracts, daytime form of education). Pensioners, citizens under the age of 18, disabled people and some other categories are exempt from paying the fee.
