Departing from the NYPD, the 17-year-old car thief killed an elderly couple and his brother
In Middle Island, New York, an 17-year-old boy in a stolen car crashed into other cars, trying to break away from police pursuit cars. As a result of an accident, three people died: an elderly couple and a young man of older adolescence who turned out to be the brother of the hijacker. Also injured two police officers.

Police reported that officers attempted to stop Nissan, driven by 17-year-old Nahriek Belford from Bellport, on Saturday evening on Middle Island, when they saw that the driver had not responded to the stop sign, wrote CBS News. The car continued driving - and the police followed it.
Trying to turn left at high speed, the car crashed into another car, a Honda CRV. Honda's driver and passenger, 74-year-old Jerome Weingarten, and his 71-year-old wife Randi Weingarten from Middle Island, were killed. The couple went home.

Nissan's passenger, 19-year-old Angelo Belford, was also killed. The police identified him as Nahriek's brother.
Nakhriek himself was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries and arrested.
Suffolk County Police Commissioner Geraldine Hart said that Nahriek was believed to be driving the car under the influence of an as yet unidentified substance.
Nissan's second passenger, 16-year-old Jackiell Fanderbark, survived the crash.

“On behalf of the department, we offer our sincere condolences to the Weingarten family on this tragic accident,” Hart said.
41-year-old son of Weingarten Jason said that his parents had been married 50 for years and were “good people.”
“Last night they went to dinner with other people. They had picked up other couples, dropped them off and were heading home when they were hit. It’s unbelievable,” Weingarten said.
Hart reported that the police department began an internal investigation to determine whether the police officer who was pursuing the car was following the department’s reports. An investigation revealed that the license plates on the Nissan were replaced.
