USCIS has sent documents with errors to temporary green card holders

16 October 2018 The US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) began issuing new notifications on receipt of I-751 forms (petition for changing the status of temporary green card holders) instead of previously issued notifications on receiving these forms, because they contained inaccurate information.

This is stated in the press service of the Ministry.

In August, 2018, the USCIS issued a notification of receipt of I-751 forms with requests to extend the temporary status of US permanent resident from 12 to 18 months. These notifications of receipt were issued to applicants who have requested six additional months of being in US permanent resident status through the I-751 form while they are waiting for their applications to be considered. Some of these notifications contain incorrect information that does not affect the extension of the validity period of the applicants' temporary green cards.

Applicants who have received incorrect notifications will receive corrected documents soon. If you do not receive a revised notice before 15 November 2018, please contact USCIS Contact Center.

Error details

1. If you do not have a lawyer or an accredited representative, but you received a notice of receipt of your application stating that your lawyer or accredited representative received the original of this notice, then you will soon receive a corrected notice of the receipt of your application. Check the notification that you have already received, and if any other information is incorrect, return this notification with an indication of what exactly the error is, at this address:

If the information in the notification you have already received is correct, you can ignore these instructions.

2. If you are a lawyer or an accredited representative who received a notice of receipt of the form from your client containing incorrect information, then you will receive a corrected notice of receipt in the near future.
