A NASA award-winning unique capsule built for life on Mars has been turned into a mini-hotel - you can stay in it for $175 a night.
If you want to join the grand plan of Elon Musk to build a colony on Mars by the 2050 year, you can get an advantage by trying to spend the night in an unusual space capsule built for life on the Red Planet, offers CNBC.
New York-based architecture firm Al SpaceFactory has relocated one of NASA's award-winning 3D capsules to upstate New York.
Starting in March, guests can spend the night in the Tera environmental capsule, created using space technology, at prices ranging from 175 to 500 dollars per night. In August, Al SpaceFactory launched the Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign to build Tera capsules, and several orders have already been sold out.

AI SpaceFactory developed the original version of the capsule called Marsha for the NASA competition and won first place. The only difference between the two capsules is that Marsha was built exclusively using basalt fiber, which Mars is rich in, while other materials, including fiberglass, were used to create Tera. Most of the materials used to make Tera are biodegradable and recyclable.
Al SpaceFactory hopes to use Tera-related projects on Earth and make them a source of revenue to finance its space-related projects. According to company representatives, its mission is to exclude the use of traditional materials, such as concrete, which adversely affect the environment.
This is how Tera will look in its final form in accordance with the visualization of the AI SpaceFactory project. A two-story house will be located in the forest overlooking the Hudson River.
On the ground floor there will be a living area equipped with a bathroom with a shower, a cooking worktop and a living room with a seating area that opens onto a terrace.
The second floor, through which a wooden staircase will pass, can become a sleeping loft or a dining room with a living room.

Since launching the campaign last month, Al SpaceFactory has raised more than 64 000 dollars, more than double the original goal of the project in 30 000 dollars.
According to Jeffrey Montes, chief space architect and head of space technology at SpaceFactory, the company is still "hesitant" about the exact launch date for Tera because it is a pilot project and there are still many unknowns when developing such a product using thermoplastics.
In May, Marsha Al SpaceFactory won the first place prize of $ 500 in the NASA competition. The Al SpaceFactory team created a prototype Marsha 4,5 meters high using an 3D printer in 30 hours and three days without any human help.
Montes says NASA has no “plans for Marsha” at the moment.
