Turkey offered Flynn $ 15 million for assistance in the extradition of enemy Erdogan
The Turkish government offered 15 million dollars to ex-presidential adviser on national security, Michael Flynn, to help extradite the Islamic preacher Fethullah Gülen from the United States to Turkey.
It is his Turkish government that considers the organizer of the attempted putsch in Turkey in the summer of 2016, since Gülen is a long-time opponent of the current President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, сообщает NBC News.
Since the putsch, Turkey has been trying to get Gülen from the USA, where he lives after being expelled from his native country.
To address this issue, Ankara representatives met with Flynn in December 2016, in New York. According to two sources, during negotiations, the option of forcibly transporting Gulen from Pennsylvania to Turkey was discussed. The case also involved Flynn's son, Michael Flynn, Jr., but it does not specify what his role was.
Flynn was offered 15 million dollars for this operation, but there is no evidence that he received any money from Turkey.
At the same time, lawyers for Trump’s ex-adviser called this information “outrageous” and “false.”
This story came to light during the investigation into the ties between Trump’s headquarters and Russia, conducted by US special prosecutor Robert Muller. The FBI has already interrogated four witnesses in this case.
Flynn was forced to resign from the Trump administration after having improperly reported on his contacts with former Russian ambassador to the US Sergey Kislyak, hiding information about these talks from Vice President Mike Pens.
The Turkish authorities consider Gülen Fethullah to be the main organizer of the coup attempt in July 2016, after the failure of which in Turkey, tens of thousands of people were arrested or fired from public officesMany of which are considered related to Gülen. The preacher himself condemned the rebellion and declared that he had nothing to do with it.
