US President Donald Trump 18 December personally presented a new national security strategy.

His predecessors never delivered this document to the public in a personal speech, reports CNN.

At the beginning of the speech, Trump said that the states for which protection the American soldiers are fighting must compensate Washington for military expenses. According to him, this is one of the manifestations of the US new approach to protecting its interests.

“We are entering a new era of competition. A state without borders is not a state. A state that is unable to win a war is unable to defend itself. America is back in the game, and America intends to win,” said the US President.

According to Trump, economic prosperity is the key to national security.

Compared to Barack Obama's strategy, which viewed the world's major powers as "strategic partners" in the fight against global threats, Trump's strategy speaks of "rivals" that undermine US security and prosperity. The president included China and Russia among such countries.

“These countries are determined to make their economies less free and fair, they are building up their military capabilities and trying to control the free flow of information in order to suppress their own civil societies and spread their influence outward,” Trump said.

China and Russia are called “revisionist powers” ​​in the strategy, seeking to change the balance of power on the world stage.

“The United States must reconsider how it deals with these rivals. The belief that interaction with rivals, their inclusion in international institutions and global trade will turn them into conscientious and reliable partners, turned out to be largely false,” the statement said. Strategy.

The document says that for three decades the world took a break from the confrontation between the superpowers, but now this rest is over: “We have long been told that the rivalry of the superpowers has become history, but now it has returned to real life again.”

The plan of economic confrontation with China, presented in the strategy, is well known to Americans by the Trump election campaign, while the part relating to Russia quite strongly disagrees with the refusal of the American president from Putin’s direct criticism, the strategy is much more critical for Putin than Trump in his public performances.

China is described in the document as a “strategic rival.”

“The United States will no longer turn a blind eye to all kinds of violations, fraud and attempts at economic aggression,” the document says.

Steps aimed at combating Chinese investment in the American technology sector are indicated as measures to preserve the “national security innovation base.”

Trump also promised to solve the problem with North Korea.

“We have no choice,” the president said.

According to the president, the security strategy involves building a wall along the southern border of the United States.

Another distinguishing feature of the strategy of the current American administration is the absence of climate change among the threats to national security.
