The United States will not lift sanctions from Russia until the Kremlin returns the Crimea to Ukraine

The United States will keep in force sanctions against Russia imposed in connection with the conflict on the territory of Ukraine, until the Kremlin fulfills the conditions of the Minsk agreements and does not return the Crimea to Ukraine.

This was stated by US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson during a meeting of foreign ministers of NATO member countries in Brussels (Belgium), reports CNN.

“We will continue to demand that Russia fulfill its obligations under the Minsk agreements. United States sanctions will remain in place until Russia changes the actions that caused them,” Tillerson said.

He added that NATO and the United States support Ukraine and do not intend to accept any attempts by Russia to change the territory of Ukraine and its borders.

The US Secretary of State also said that US sanctions imposed against Russia after the annexation of Crimea “will remain in force until Russia returns control of the peninsula to Ukraine.”
