Court pardoned former American football star O. Jay Simpson

The Parole Board decided to release the 70-year-old actor and former star on parole. American football O. Jay Simpson.

During the hearing, Simpson said that in prison he often kept others out of trouble, and suggested that he became the best person during his time in prison. He added that he also completed a course of fighting aggression and cruelty while in prison.

All four commissioners who conducted the hearing voted for his release in about half an hour of discussion.

“Thank you, thank you, thank you,” said Simpson quietly, his head resting on his chest in relief. Rising from his seat to return to the prison cell, he took a deep breath.

In September, 2007, Simpson, along with friends, burst into a room in one of the hotels in Las Vegas to a sports trophy merchant and chose cups that had previously belonged to him. A year later, the court found him guilty and sentenced him to 33 years of imprisonment with the possibility of parole no less than in 9 years that expire in October 2017.

In 1995, Simpson was charged with the murder of his wife Nicole Brown and her friend Ronald Goldman. That case attracted the attention of the whole country and became the loudest process of the decade. Despite the fact that the criminal court acquitted Simpson, he lost a civil claim for compensation to the relatives of Brown and Goldman, as a result of which he went bankrupt by paying 33,5 million dollars.
