The United States will apply for the 2024 Olympics in Los Angeles
The US Olympic Committee has decided to apply for the Los Angeles 2024 Summer Games, the committee website reports.
The application was approved by the board of directors of the committee and the mayor of the metropolis, Eric Garsetti.
Approval of the application addressed to the International Olympic Committee was announced two weeks before the end of the deadline for the cities of the world to be nominated.
The largest city in the western United States will join the race, which will also include Paris, Rome, Budapest and Hamburg.
American Boston dropped out of the list of candidates in July.
Los Angeles has already hosted the Summer Olympics twice - in 1932 and 1984.
The cost of the games in the case of the application is estimated at six billion dollars in advance.
Elections for the Olympiad 2024 will take place in the summer of 2017. The upcoming Summer Games will be held in 2016 in Rio de Janeiro, and the Olympics-2020 will be held in Tokyo.
