Trump's son-in-law can deny admission to state secret
The senior adviser and son-in-law of US President Jared Kushner may be denied access to information that is a state secret. As CNN reported on Tuesday, citing sources in the White House, this may happen, in part, because of his participation. in a meeting with a lawyer from the Russian Federationwhich allegedly intended to pass on Donald Trump Jr. with dirt on Hillary Clinton.
According to the TV channel, Kushner recently filed a request to change the temporary access to secret information to permanent. And in this regard, has already been interviewed by the FBI. As noted by CNN, some White House officials are seriously worried that Kouchner may be denied permission.
According to the channel, Trump can in any case order to give his son-in-law a permanent admission to the state secret, despite the disagreement with the White House staff. However, such a move is likely to lead to an extremely negative reaction and inflate the scandal around the alleged ties between Trump and Russia even more. CNN recalls that Democrats are strongly urging that Kushner be denied access to the state secret.
Note that when submitting a request for access to classified information, Kouchner did not initially include information about a meeting with a Russian lawyer in his list of recent contacts with representatives of foreign countries. Because of this, he had to withdraw and send the request back in amended form.
Recall, Donald Trump Jr admitted that 9 June 2016 had a meeting in New York with Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya. The son of the president does not deny that he agreed to the meeting, as he hoped to get compromising information About ex-US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. The latter was at that time a presidential candidate from the Democratic Party and the main rival of the Republican Trump in the elections.
Political opponents of the President of the United States argue that the meeting allegedly confirms the existence of ties between Trump’s campaign headquarters and Russia. Veselnitskaya herself later refuted the version that allegedly could work for the Russian authorities. The lawyer also noted that she had no compromising evidence on Clinton. Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov, in turn, said earlier to journalists that the lawyer Veselnitskaya is unfamiliar to the Kremlin.
