Media: Ksenia Sobchak fled Russia, they tried to detain her at the airport

Russian journalist, politician, former candidate for the post of President of Russia, Ksenia Sobchak, according to Russian media, left Russia on the night of October 25-26. She allegedly entered Lithuania through Belarus because they allegedly wanted to detain her, reports “Fontanka«.

TASS, citing its sources in law enforcement agencies, writes that there was an investigator's decision to detain Sobchak. “She managed to escape,” the publication says.

According to officially unconfirmed portal information Base, to detain journalist Ksenia Sobchak, operatives went to Vnukovo-3 airport.

On the eve it became known that searches were carried out in the house of Ksenia Sobchak in the Moscow region. They are connected with the criminal case against its 32-year-old commercial director Kirill Sukhanov. Sobchak herself has no procedural status in this case.

32-year-old Kirill Sukhanov is suspected of extortion. The criminal case is allegedly related to the so-called “blocks,” which guarantee that a person or company is not mentioned in the news.

“The suspect took money for “blocks” in Ksenia Sobchak’s channels,” says the source.

Kirill Sukhanov was detained on October 25 in Moscow in a restaurant during a meeting with a client who wanted to buy a fake “negative block” (a ban on mentions in the news in a negative way), reports “Radio Liberty«.

On October 26, the former editor-in-chief of the glossy magazine Tatler, Arian Romanovsky, was detained in Moscow. He is said to be a suspect in the same case.

Sukhanov and Romanovsky are suspected of extorting from the director for special assignments of the Rostec state corporation Vasily Brovko, a former media manager, husband of TV presenter Tina Kandelaki.

Sobchak regarded Sukhanov's attack as another pressure on journalism in the country.

“There is nothing to get at us for, and this infuriates them,” she wrote in the Telegram channel.

Ksenia Sobchak manages the Beware, Media project, which includes a network of news telegram channels, a podcast studio, as well as the social networks of the journalist herself. The journalist has known Vladimir Putin since childhood and was a candidate for the presidency in the 2018 elections.

In the summer in Moscow and St. Petersburg, the administrators of several Telegram channels with tens and hundreds of thousands of declared subscribers were arrested. They are accused of fraud and extortion, including for promising to block negative news about advertisers.
