Russian National Guard plane shot down an elk while landing
The plane of the Rosguard when landing at the airport Ermolino in the Kaluga region shot down an elk, reports TASS, citing a source at the airport.
“It was a fact that there was an emergency involving an airplane and a moose at the airfield,” a source at the airport said.
The incident occurred after the return of An-26 from a training flight. The pilots were not injured, but the transport was seriously damaged. Elk died on the spot.
It is assumed that the elk could get into the airfield due to the negligence of the builders standing around the airfield fence. The workers removed two concrete slabs, and there was no temporary fence at the time of the emergency.
Yermolino airfield is located in Borovskoy area in the northern part of the Kaluga region. The object is capable of receiving IL-76, Tu-154, An-12, An-72 aircraft and ever lighter aircraft, as well as any type of helicopter.
