Russian woman arrested in the US for kidnapping her own child, brought new charges

The Russian woman, Bogdana Osipova, who was arrested in the United States on charges of abduction of children, brought new charges, which in total amount to her face up to 80 years in prison.

“Yesterday there was a meeting on the case of Bogdana Osipova. New charges were brought against her - on four counts of extortion, ”he noted. According to the lawyer, the maximum term of imprisonment for each item is 20 years and $ 250 thousand fine.

Tarasov said that currently Osipova is in prison in Newton, Kansas. He explained that in the case a court order was signed, according to which the hearing on the release of the Russian woman from custody will take place only when her daughters return to the United States.

Tarasov added that the next meeting was scheduled for September 18, with the participation of the jury.

Osipova moved to the US in 2003 year, then she took the name of her second husband - Mobley. According to investigators, in the same year she took out one child from her first marriage from the first marriage and one from the second. After returning to Russia, she gave birth to her third child. It was reported that the court, which approved her divorce from a US citizen, decided to return the children to the father.

The woman repeatedly contacted the former spouse and asked him to send her money, but did not give her address and did not allow her to see the children. In 2017, Osipova returned to the US, where she was detained and accused of abduction and extortion.

Recall that a week ago Osipov transferred from the medical prison center at a military base in Fort Worth, Texas, in a regular prison in the state of Kansas. The woman was detained in a prison psychiatric hospital, since her condition required confirmation of sanity through a medical examination. At the end of July, on the basis of expert evidence, the judge stated that Osipova could be brought to justice.

Osipova has dual citizenship: Russia and the United States. In 2014, the one-year-old daughter of a woman was wanted. In a statement, the father of the child said that the girl could be with her mother in Russia. The Russian woman then returned to Russia, having escaped from her American husband. Bogdana escaped from her husband to Russia while being pregnant and gave birth to another child here. The Russian court decided to leave her two children from marriage with an American and determine their place of residence in Russia.

In September, Osipova once again arrived in the US 2017, to arrange for alimony. But she was detained by FBI agents, since she had previously been wanted for the abduction of a child. According to the decision of the American court, two young daughters who are citizens of Russia and the United States, after the divorce of the parents had to stay with their father. It was he who appealed to the FBI demanding the return of children and the punishment of the former wife.

The children's father appears at the trial as a witness for the prosecution.
