Russia has published a list of products that fell under the ban
The list of products that are banned from being imported into Russia from countries that supported the sanctions has not changed much from last year’s. Updated listing on your website published Russian government.
In particular, fresh or frozen cattle and pork meat, poultry meat, fish and crustaceans, milk and dairy products, vegetables, fruits and nuts, and sausage were included.
Cheese products have become the only new position banned for import into Russia from the EU, the USA, Canada, Norway and Australia. However, in a number of categories, the number of prohibited goods decreased. For example, a ban on the supply of seafood will no longer apply to the import of juvenile mussels and oysters, as well as juvenile rainbow trout.
Neither confectionery, nor flowers, nor wine, nor canned fish appeared in the list, the ban on which was announced by the Russian authorities.
After the annexation of Crimea by Russia and the outbreak of hostilities in the Donbas in spring 2014, the EU introduced economic sanctions against Russia in several stages, and the EU Council extended the term of these restrictive measures until the end of the year.
As stated by the official representative of the EU foreign service Maia Kosyanchich, this decision is intended to force the Kremlin to implement the Minsk agreement on the settlement of the situation in Ukraine.
In response, last August, Russia banned the import of products from countries that joined the sanctions pressure for a year, and 25 June extended its effect to 5 August 2016.
