Russia and the United States will be engaged in the Arctic
From the northern port of Arkhangelsk on August 22 a research vessel left "Academician Treshnikov ", on board of which more than forty went on a long arctic expedition scientists from Russia, USA, Germany, Poland, South Korea, Great Britain and New Zealand.
The Arctic expedition is taking place within the framework of the second stage of work on the program of long-term monitoring of the state of the waters of the Nansen and Amundsen basins.
The work is carried out under the project of Russian-American scientific cooperation in the field of hydrometeorology, hydrology, oceanography, a memorandum of which was signed between the Federal Service for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring (Roshydromet) and National Ocean and Atmosphere Administration (NOAA) of the US Department of Commerce in 2005.
In addition to the parameters of the aquatic environment, scientists plan to fix the meteorological parameters of the drive strata the atmosphere.
Tracking seasonal and interannual variability of biochemical and hydrological indicators hydro mode, scientists plan to find out what role the process trAtlantic waters have an effect on the formation of climate in the Arctic.
