Russia is preparing a "surprise" for a dozen American media
Russia may limit access to the State Duma to at least 9-10 to US media from 23, which have this access at the moment.
About this during a speech in the Russian parliament, said the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia (MFA) Maria Zakharova, reports RIA News.
“I think that the State Duma will also make a decision on who to let in and who not to let in. As we understand, at the executive level we can talk about at least nine to ten US media outlets, but which ones exactly will be a surprise,” Zakharova said.
According to her, the Foreign Ministry insists on targeted measures against the American media, which are funded with the participation of the State Department, and these restrictions will not affect journalists from other countries.
The Kremlin decided to take such measures in response to Depriving Russia Today Journalists of Accreditation after the channel is obliged to register as a foreign agent. Earlier, the US Department of Justice added RT and an affiliate company to the list of foreign agents. Sputnik. All of this is due to the assumption that these channels were part of the process of Russia exerting its intended influence on the US presidential election in 2016.
