Russian reconnaissance aircraft flew over the White House and the headquarters of the CIA

On Wednesday, a Russian military reconnaissance aircraft flew over the Federal District of Columbia, Philadelphia and the state of New Jersey. Although the presence of an aircraft of the Russian Air Force in the airspace above the American capital caused uncomfortable feelings among some US citizens, such flights do not violate international norms and are part of the “Open Skies Treaty” signed, among others, by the United States and the Russian Federation in 1992 in Helsinki .

According to "Voice of America", over the past 15 years, the USA and Russia have carried out 165 of such "familiarization" flights. As confirmed by the US Department of Defense, such aerial reconnaissance is negotiated by both parties at least 72 hours before the flight, and representatives of the country over which the flight takes place are on board.

However, the news site reports Politico, some people in America regarded the appearance of the Russian TU-154M aircraft as evidence that the Russian authorities are “trolling” President Trump.

The fact is that on the territory of New Jersey, a Russian intelligence officer flew just in the area of ​​the town of Bedminster, which is remarkable only because at the moment there, in one of the golf clubs, the head of the White House is spending his summer vacation. In any case, in an interview with this publisher, a high-ranking Pentagon official who wished to remain incognito, said: “I don’t know any military facilities in that area.”

However, before that, the same reconnaissance aircraft that flew out in the morning from the Moscow region in Russia was spotted in the Daytona area, Ohio, where the US Wright-Patterson military base is located.
