Russian hackers accused of hacking into White House computers via Twitter
Researchers at the American information security company, FireEye, said that Russian hackers had hacked into the White House’s computers using the Twitter microblogging service. Reports about it Reuters.
The American company believes that hackers have created a malicious code Hammertoss, spread through the popular social network. A special algorithm generated a new message every day on Twitter with an image and a link that led to the server with the virus.
There was also a hashtag in the tweet, in which the decryption key was hidden. When a user registered in the social network wrote a message with a certain set of numbers and letters, the computer infection command was activated.
FireEye experts noted that such tactics are very difficult to detect. In another computer security company Symantec confirmed the findings of FireEye.
Experts believe that hackers who hacked into the United States government structures earlier this year had connections with the Russian government. FireEye stressed that she passed information to law enforcement agencies.
