Russian government hackers stole Trump's Democrats file

Russian state-related hackers have infiltrated the computer network of the National Committee of the US Democratic Party, сообщает newspaper The Washington Post.

Burglars gained access to a database compiled by the Republican Party candidate Donald Trump, representatives of the committee and security experts told the newspaper. The party also reported that hackers were able to read all the emails and chat traffic of the committee.

According to the newspaper, some of the hackers had access to the party’s network throughout the year. However, access for them was closed during the cleaning, which took place this weekend. Hackers did not gain access to financial or personal information of party sponsors.

According to the newspaper, computers and networks of other American political organizations, as well as major contenders for the presidency of the United States, Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, were also attacked. The Republican Party was no exception, but so far the details of this attack are not known.

Experts surveyed by the newspaper believe that these cyber attacks are a peculiar form of espionage. In this way, the Russian side is trying to understand how the American institutions function. Trump is interested in hackers because he hasn’t been involved in politics for a long time, so the Russian side doesn’t have much information about him.

Earlier, US National Intelligence Director James Klapper warned that hackers working in the interests of foreign countries are spying on US presidential candidates. According to Clapper, the greatest danger is the Russian and Chinese hackers who can cause the greatest damage because they have more knowledge than others.
