Hawaiian Airlines flight returned to Los Angeles airport three times for various reasons.

The other day, more than 200 Hawaiian Airlines passengers aboard Flight 33 said “Aloha” to Los Angeles more than once—and it meant both “hello” and “goodbye.” The plane, bound for Maui, took off and returned to LAX three times for unrelated reasons.

In the end, the flight, which planned to deliver more than two hundred people from Los Angeles International Airport to Maui Kahului Airport, was canceled, said Alex Da Silva, the airline's senior manager, writes CNN.

According to Da Silva, all three episodes with the return of the board to the airport occurred due to separate and unrelated faults of different systems.

207 passengers were compensated for the failed flight and a loan in the amount of US $ 100 per flight at another time. They were re-booked for free flights, some were given food stamps and given hotel rooms.

“Safety is our top priority and we apologize for the inconvenience to all of our guests who were on board Flight 33 today,” Hawaiian Airlines said. “We understand our guests’ disappointment and deeply regret that their travel plans have been disrupted.”

The airline attributes heightened precautions to the fact that flying over the sea is classified as an extended range operation (ETOPS).

“These flights have more stringent security requirements due to the greater distance between airports,” the airline said. — If an abnormality occurs on a land flight, it can land (and often does) before reaching its destination. However, ETOPS flights operate under stricter safety standards. Our aircraft have backup systems, but the standard is to respond to any indication of abnormal situations as a precaution."
