Protests against Trump's election turned into riots across the country. VIDEO
On the third night after the US presidential election, passions in American cities ran high. Riots spread to cities and university campuses across the country, in states where Hillary Clinton was leading the election. Peaceful protests on the first day gave way to pogroms. Protesters smash windows and throw petrol bombs at police.
Protests in Portland
On the eve of the most massive riots took place in Portland, Oregon. About 4 thousands of protesters gathered in the city center. Writes NBC, they chanted “We reject the president-elect.”

Protesters destroyed 19 cars, then headed to the Pearl area. Demonstrators there broke glass of office buildings and enterprises.
USA Today notes that the meetings were initially peaceful, but at some point the protesters merged with a group of anarchists. After that, the pogroms began. Portland Police on his page in Twitter also notes that protesters tried to stop the anarchists, and even shouted “peaceful protest” so as not to provoke a police response.

According to recent reports, 26 people were arrested in Portland.

Protests in other US cities
On the west coast, protests swept through San Francisco, Auckland, Los Angeles and San Diego. The demonstrators burned stuffed Donald Trump, shouting angry slogans.
On the east coast, protests took place in Washington, Boston and New York. Protesters marched along Sixth Avenue. City police are taking enhanced security measures.
