American woman joining ISIL was denied a request to return to the US

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo told 20 in February that a woman from Alabama, who joined the Islamic State terrorist organization (ISIS), but now wants to return home with her 18-month-old son who was born from her terrorist husband, to the United States.

The official explained this by saying that a woman is not a US citizen, writes Fox News.

“Miss Hoda Muthana is not a US citizen and will not be admitted to the United States. She has no legal basis for this, no valid US passport, no right to obtain a passport or visa to enter the US. We continue to strongly advise all US citizens not to travel to Syria,” Pompeo said.

Shortly thereafter, US President Donald Trump noted that it was he who ordered Pompeo to refuse entry to Mutane.

“I have instructed Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, and he fully agrees with this decision, not to allow Hoda Muthana back into the country,” the president wrote on Twitter.

Mutana, a 24-year-old, asked officials to allow her to return to the US after a recent escape from ISIS, after which Kurdish troops captured her. She was born on 1994 in Hackensack, New Jersey.

At the moment, it is unclear what kind of legislation the State Department used to deprive Mutana of US citizenship. This may be due to the fact that the woman’s father was in the United States as part of a diplomatic mission.

According to the Citizenship and Immigration Services, children born in the United States from accredited foreign diplomatic personnel do not receive American citizenship by right of land.

However, the woman’s lawyer Hassan Shibli said that Mutana’s father stopped performing diplomatic duties in the United States several months before the birth of Hody’s birth in New Jersey.

“The Trump administration continues to attempt to illegally take away citizenship from American citizens. Hoda Muthana had a valid US passport and is an American citizen,” Shibley said.

Mutan is currently being held in a refugee camp in northeastern Syria. She admitted that the last four years of her life in a terrorist group were a traumatic experience for her, because she was “starving and literally eating grass.”

“I would tell them (US officials) please forgive me for being so ignorant, I was very young and ignorant, I was only 19 years old when I decided to leave,” the woman said.

In 2015, Mutana left her family in Birmingham, Alabama, to join a terrorist group. An attorney representing her parents at the time said that the girl was brainwashed over the Internet. She went against the wishes of her family and the teachings of Islam, secretly boarding a plane to Turkey at the end of 2014, to join ISIS.

February 17 in the Mutana refugee camp admitted that she was brainwashed and made a “big mistake”.

“I thought I was doing everything right, for God's sake,” she said, adding that “she was brainwashed once and my friends are still being brainwashed.”

During her time at ISIL, a woman lived in Raqqah and was married to jihadists from Australia, Tunisia and Syria, the first two of whom were killed in battle.

In 2015, Mutana led a Twitter account and once tried to use it to incite Americans to commit acts of violence in the United States on national holidays.

Mutana now has an 18-month-old son from one of her marriages with an ISIS militant. The girl claims that her parents were too strict in her upbringing, which, according to her, contributed to her decision to run away from home and join the terrorists.

Now Mutane is not allowed to leave the camp in which she is kept, she is accompanied everywhere by Kurdish fighters. A woman has no choice but to be at a distance of more than 6500 miles (10,5 thousand km) from the city in Alabama, which she once called her home.
