Polish President sees threat in Victory Parade in Moscow
According to Komorowski, on May 9 on Red Square “those divisions that recently, before the eyes of the world and our Polish eyes, attacked neighboring Ukraine” will demonstrate their strength.
Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski considers the Victory Parade to be held in Moscow on May 9, a symbol of an unstable and troubled world. He expressed this opinion on Sunday, speaking at the Castle Square in Warsaw on the occasion of the Constitution Day celebrated in the republic.
According to the Polish leader, Poland must remember the lessons of history and not succumb to the delusion that nothing threatens the republic. “After all, soon - May 9 - Red Square in Moscow will again turn into an armored square. Once again, those divisions that recently, before the eyes of the world and our Polish eyes, attacked neighboring Ukraine will demonstrate their strength. It has been a long time since a military conflict was as close to the Polish borders as it is now. It should be remembered that in this military demonstration, this show of force, we are not talking about history, but about the present and the future. This is the image of today's unstable and turbulent world. And in such conditions we must build our Polish security,” says Komorowski.
“The geopolitical position of Poland has always been difficult, since we are located between East and West. Therefore, we must remember the painful experiences of history and build our strength based on agreement and unity where possible,” he said. “Today the world faces threats, which is why further modernization of the country, strengthening ties with the Western world through expanded European integration and active participation in NATO are so important.”
