Poland will build towers along the Russian-Polish border

By June 2015, Poland will build observation towers along the border with the Kaliningrad region.

It is assumed that there will be six such structures throughout the site.

The length of the Russian-Polish border is 232 km. It separates the Kaliningrad region from the Warmian-Mazury province, being the external border of the European Union. Travelers cross it at four automobile checkpoints - Gronovo, Grzehotki, Bezledy and Goldap.

Towers 35 and 50 meters will be installed at different distances from each other.

According to border guards, this innovation will cost almost 4 million. 75% of funds coming from the EU External Borders Fund.

As the representative of the Border Service Miroslav Alexandrovich, the camera will be transferred to the local video surveillance centers, located on the border posts.

The decision to build the towers was made in connection with reports of the deployment of Russian Iskander missile systems in Kaliningrad.

In October 2014 the Minister of Internal Affairs of Estonia Hanno Pevkur said that in 2015, Estonia will create a special unit of border troops to enhance security along the border with Russia. For its part, the Ukrainian government announced the project on arrangement of the Ukrainian-Russian border.

Last year, through the Polish-Russian road border crossings passed 3,2 million Poles and Russians 3,3 million.
