Several thousand November 7 runners took part in the Rock and Roll Marathon in Savannah, Georgia. Running the race was complicated by weather conditions - extreme heat and high humidity, reports BuzzFeed.

Fearing for the health of the participants of the marathon, doctors organized the issuance of free water. In addition, along the entire distance there were air-conditioned buses in which the runners could relax a bit.

But such precautions did not help everyone. One of the runners became ill almost at the finish: about a hundred meters before the end of the race, the man started to bleed from the nose and he fell. The doctors who were on duty nearby advised the runner to stop, however, as one of the policemen said, the man was very upset about this. Then the guardian of the order, holding the athlete's arm, helped him to complete the distance.

“I took his arm, tears flowed from him. Together we went to the finish line. I could almost feel the happiness emanating from him, ”the policeman said.

A series of "Rock and Roll" races have been held in Savannah since 1998. In addition to marathons, the two-day event hosts a health and fitness exhibition, as well as a major concert featuring stars such as Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Pitbull, Goo Goo Dolls, All-American Rejects, Flo-Rida, Train and Lady Antebellum. Participation in the races is paid. The collected money goes to charity.
