Under the new US sanctions came the Finnish company Airfix, whose planes flew Russian officials and the dog of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Labrador Koni.

The Russian publication writes about this “Ведомости“, with reference to people from the circle of oligarch Gennady Timchenko, who previously owned the company.

The publication recalls that Airfix Aviation was previously part of Timchenko’s Avia Group and provided business aviation services at Sheremetyevo and Pulkovo airports.

In 2014, Timchenko managed to “sell” Airfix before the first wave of Western sanctions to his Finnish partner Kai Paananen, who was included in the latest US sanctions list.

The publication writes that “while Timchenko was its (Airfix) owner, the company operated business jets of Gazprom, Rosneft and Transneft.”

People from Timchenko’s entourage said that the head of Rosneft Igor Sechin, the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Igor Shuvalov and even Putin flew on Airfix planes, “if his trip was unofficial.”

“Airfix planes transported the daughters of the Russian president, Maria and Katerina, as well as Maria Putina’s friend, Jorrit Faassen. And in some cases, when Putin missed his Labrador Koni on a long-distance business trip, he was delivered to the president by Airfix,” the publication writes.

In the government of the Russian Federation and the administration of Putin such information is refuted.

Putin's press secretary, Dmitry Peskov, assures that the Russian President flies only on planes of the special flight squad "Russia" and sometimes on military aircraft.

“He does not use other planes or helicopters,” Peskov assured.

Sanctions against Russia were imposed by the USA, the European Union and some other countries (Australia, Japan, Canada, Norway and so on) in several stages in 2014.

After the annexation of the Crimea USA и EC introduced personal sanctions against politicians and other citizens of Russia and Ukraine, who are responsible for approving the undermining of the territorial integrity of Ukraine. Their accounts (if any) were frozen, they were denied entry into the States and the European Union countries.

Higher-level sanctions - economic - were introduced in the summer of 2014 (a number of US economic sanctions were introduced in the spring - ed.), After the proclamation on the territory of Ukraine with the support of Russia of the “republics of the DPR and the LPR”, as well as the start of military operations, the supply of military equipment for pro-Russian separatists across the border of Ukraine, of which the Ukrainian side and NATO have repeatedly accused Russia.

In response to Western sanctions, Russia also introduced restrictive measures: it introduced supply ban almost all food products from Western countries, and also created a response list of US and EU citizens banned from entering Russia.
