According to one New York subway passenger, he was hospitalized after being attacked by a rat. To prevent the massive spread and attack of rats, city authorities want to “feed” them with a chemical that will make the rodents infertile.

The man, whose name is not reported, was at the metro station 14th Street (Manhattan) when the rodent began to attack him.

The man felt pain in his little finger and saw that his finger had bitten the pest. Headlong he rushed to the station attendant, asking for help: “The rat bit me. I need to go to the hospital. ”

It is not surprising that the man rushed for help, because in New York spreads a dangerous infection that rats have become. A case of death of a patient from a rare bacterial disease, leptospirosis, has been recorded.

It is known that in the period from 2006 to 2016 in New York, 26 was infected with leptospirosis. The average age of the patients is 42.

Doctors remind you of the symptoms of leptospirosis: fever, headaches, photophobia, nausea, vomiting and muscle pain - especially in the legs and lower back area. Symptoms can only appear after 2 weeks after infection.

The authorities of the city meanwhile want to expand next year an experimental program of sterilization of rats, which controls the birth rate of rodents, writes New York Post.

Rats will ingest a 'chemical cocktail' and become infertile within weeks, manufacturer says Senestech.

Scientists have noted that the tool is toxic only for rodents and will not affect the health of humans or other animals.
