Pope maintains a single Easter date

Pope Francis announced the readiness of the Roman Catholic Church to discuss a single date for Easter. He argues that it is not normal for a Catholic and an Orthodox to meet and ask: “Is your Christ risen already? Mine is in a week.” The Pope supports the idea of ​​a common date for Easter, which will be celebrated “in Rome, Constantinople and Moscow.”

Perhaps the single date of the great holiday will make the third Sunday of April. Officially, this issue will be discussed in 2016 at the Ecumenical (Pan-Orthodox) Council.

This year, Catholics celebrated Easter on April 5, and Orthodox Christians celebrated Easter on April 12. Typically, the difference between them is one week each year. But there are cases when the dates differ by a whole month, and even less often they coincide.
