Holocaust-denying candidate running for Illinois Congress

70-year-old Arthur Jones, who denies the Holocaust and calls himself the former head of the American Nazi Party, has put forward his candidacy for the US Congress from Illinois.

So far, Jones, who represents the Republican Party, has no competitor, which gives him every chance to get an nomination from the party in the elections to be held in November 2018 of the year, writes NBC News.

Jones has tried to run for congressional seats in the third Illinois district, which consists of parts of Chicago and some of its suburbs, several times since the 1990s.

At the moment, there are no other people in the Republican party who want to fight for this place, and if they do not appear before the March March 20 primaries, Jones will be nominated for the presidency of this political force.

In Jones’s biography, one can find connections with neo-Nazis, strong anti-Semitic views, and belief in the superiority of white people.

According to the program on the website of the politician, he is in favor of stopping illegal immigration, destroying refuge cities and abolishing Obamacare. His advertising slogan: “It's time to put America first.”

In his biography on the campaign website, Jones wrote that “the blood of both the southern confederation and the northern Yankees” flows in his veins.

His website also has a “Hate Speech?”, Which outlines the views of politicians regarding the superiority of whites, and the Holocaust. Jones calls the genocide organized by Nazi Germany, which resulted in the killing of six million Jews, "the biggest and blackest lie in history." He also calls the white nationalists, who in 2017, brutally beat the leftists in Charlottesville, “white patriots”.

In the interview The Chicago Sun-Times Jones explained his views more extensively.

“First of all, I am running for Congress, not for the post of Chancellor of Germany. For me, the Holocaust is something that I have already said many times: “This is an international racket for extorting money,” the politician said.

Despite the fact that Jones does not have an opponent for the primaries within the Republican Party, his chances of getting into Congress are low, since the third Illinois district has supported Democrats for many years. Therefore, the chances of defeating Marie Newman from the Democratic Party in Jones are small.

Jones lives in Lyons, Illinois, a politician several times unsuccessfully running for various elective positions in Chicago and Milwaukee, starting in the 1970s.

Maddy Anderson, a spokeswoman for the National Committee of the Republican Party, called Jones "an extremist candidate who has no real connection with the Republican Party."

Illinois Republican Party Chairman Tim Schneider also criticized Jones’s views: “In the Illinois Republican Party and in our country, there is no place for Nazis, such as Arthur Jones. We strongly oppose his racist views and his candidacy for any public office. ”
