Obama congratulated the baby, confusing age

The letter appears to have been sent by mistake. It said Benjamin, 101, is “an integral part of American history” and “a witness to the best that our country can achieve through united effort.”

Spouses in an interview with NBC reported that they perceived an unusual greeting as a good omen.

Any citizen of the United States can receive congratulations from the White House, but only on special occasions. In particular, the president congratulates newborns, Americans older than 80, retiring after a minimum of 20 years of service, as well as newlyweds who attended to this at least six weeks before the celebration. Also, congratulations on the anniversary can be ordered by couples who have lived together for at least 50 years.
