Obama advised Trump to “stop whining”
US President Barack Obama advised Donald Trump, a candidate for his post from the Republican Party, to stop whining about election fraud and focus on getting votes.
He said this at a press conference following talks with Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, reports Time.
“Never in my life and never in modern political history have I seen at least one of the presidential candidates try to discredit the elections and the electoral process even before the voting. This is unprecedented,” Obama said.
He recalled that the basis of the US political system is the peaceful transfer of power after the presidential election, and added that Trump's statements are not based on facts.
“The attempt to discredit the elections has no basis in facts. Any expert, regardless of political affiliation or ideology, conservative or liberal, who has ever seriously studied this issue will tell you that there will be no significant instances of voter fraud,” Obama said.
The US president added that Trump "started whining" even before he lost.
“If things aren't going well for you and you start blaming someone else, then you're not the right person for the job. I would tell him to stop whining and stand his ground to get votes,” Obama concluded.
Recall that October 17 Trump at a pre-election meeting in Green Bay, Wisconsin, said the danger of fraud in the presidential election: “They will try to manage the elections at the polling stations. Voting people who passed away 10 years ago, illegal immigrants voting, and believe me, there are a lot of them. And while we are told that nothing happens. "
