New Yorkers can apply for free college tuition.
At the start of 2017, New York became the first state in the country to offer free college tuition to state residents.
Call for applications for this program opened on June 9, the newspaper writes Time-out.
Starting in the fall of the year 2017 program Excelsior will provide training in public universities for undergraduate or graduate students from the state of New York living in families whose income is not more than $ 100 thousand per year. In 2018, the maximum amount of income for a family will rise to $ 110 thousand and in 2019, it will reach $ 125 thousand.
The program will cover tuition fees of up to $ 6 470 for the 2017-2018 school year. To save the scholarship, students from New York will have to enroll in courses that give at least 30 credits per year and maintain a certain level of academic performance.
The application deadline is July 21.
