Illegal from Texas 6 years worked in the border service
A US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer claimed to be born in Texas when in fact he was an illegal immigrant from Mexico - and the man managed to get a job with the agency responsible for protecting the American border.
37-year-old Marco Antonio De La Garza has been charged with passport fraud and false testimony by the Immigration and Customs Service, reports Fox News.
According to investigators, the Mexican De La Garza deliberately used the fraudulently obtained Texan birth certificates to apply for a US citizen's passport.
He used the same certificate to prove his citizenship when he came to work at the ICE and during the annual checks of the employees of the department.
De La Garza claimed he was born in Brownsville, Texas, although his actual birthplace was Rio Grande, Mexico.
He even colluded with the midwife, who claimed that he was actually born in Texas in the 1984 year.
In order to get a job at ICE, you must provide proof of citizenship, De La Garza worked in the Service since 2012, the department’s spokeswoman did not explain how he managed to pass the citizenship test, being a Mexican.
De La Garza was arrested on February 22, ICE did not report how they managed to uncover his frauds with documents, a man will appear in court on March 23.
