Drug water: residents of a town in Colorado banned from drinking water from the tap
Residents of the small town of Hugo in the US state of Colorado were advised not to drink tap water, after traces of marijuana were found in one of the wells.
Tetrahydrocannabinol, a narcotic substance found in the inflorescences and leaves of cannabis, was found in the water.
According to local authorities, the substance was accidentally discovered by one of the local companies during drug testing. The presence of tetrahydrocannabinol in water was confirmed by laboratory tests.
Local authorities report that tap water can be used for washing and washing, but it is not recommended to drink it. Information about cases of water infection has not yet been reported.
Medical and recreational use of marijuana is permitted in Colorado, but there are no legal cannabis farms in the Hugo area.
